UNI ELEKTRO inaugurates state-of-the-art logistics center
On 9 September, UNI ELEKTRO Fachgroßhandel GmbH & Co. KG inaugurated the expansion to its logistics center in Eschborn together with representatives from politics and the business community as well as colleagues from the Würth Group.
The building alterations to the company’s HQ and central warehouse in Eschborn, which were started in 2012, count as one of the most ambitious projects in the company’s history. Almost four years of construction work yielded one of the most advanced logistics centers in electrical wholesaling, with a storage area of 34,500 m² and a gross storage volume of 264,000 m³. More than 34,000 articles from all product categories will be available from now on directly from the warehouse; cutting-edge technology allows 15,000 articles to be picked per day.
Volker Bouffier, Prime Minister of Hesse, Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts, and Robert Friedmann, Chairman of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group, addressed the audience during the opening ceremony last Friday. Wolf-Dieter Poschmann, a well-known German radio and television sports commentator, hosted the ceremony. The event provided the guests with the opportunity to gain insight into warehousing processes and learn more about the ultramodern materials-handling technology and intelligent ERP software. Top customers, suppliers and further business partners were invited to the event.
Timo Kirstein, Managing Director of UNI ELEKTRO, said during the inauguration: “This investment in a new logistics center clearly demonstrates the Würth Group’s and the Würth family’s commitment to the Eschborn location and UNI ELEKTRO. On behalf of the entire company, I would like to thank you very much. It is such a pleasure for us to celebrate this milestone in our company history together with our guests.”
“Over the past four and a half years, UNI ELEKTRO invested around EUR 42 million in its company headquarters in Eschborn. This marks a milestone in the company’s history and is a clear commitment to Hesse, the Rhine Main area and the people living here. Such an investment merits our respect. The inauguration of the central warehouse is proof that bold, progressive ideas and a clear commitment to quality make for a successful combination, reflecting the company’s expertise and inspiring trust and lasting customer relations. This is what UNI ELEKTRO and the Würth Group with its Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts, Prof. Dr. Reinhold Würth, stand for”, Hessian Prime Minister Volker Bouffier explained to underline the logistics center’s significance for the German economy.
Headquartered in Eschborn, UNI ELEKTRO has deep roots in the Rhine Main area and has positioned itself as the market leader in the region. In Hesse alone, UNI ELEKTRO employs 275 sales representatives at 19 locations; 266 employees work at the headquarters in Eschborn.
